Coping with environmental pressures: public research organizations responses to funding crises
Article Abstract:
An analysis is made in relation to how a group of Spanish public research organizations (PRO) are affected by the reduction in direct transfers of State funds. Their reaction to situations where rising costs of research projects and the emergence of financial problems in the government have reduced direct support to public research organizations is assessed.

US industrial modernization programmes argue that difficulties of establishing long-term relationships with users prevent them from facilitating development of innovation capabilities. Also where there is a wide gap between suppliers and users of technology there have to by appropriate intermediary agencies that connect them.
