Development and use of biopesticides: implications of government policy and consumers' preferences
Article Abstract:
The development and use of biopesticides in the future depends upon the environmental effects of conventional pesticides and government policies devised to control these negative effects. The prevailing cost and benefits of conventional pesticides and alternatives such as biopesticides will influence the farmer's choice on the kind of pesticides he will use. Numerous factors will determine the future of biopesticides, and these include pesticide regulation, planted crops, the FAIR Act and consumer demand.

Increasing biodegradable polymer resin use: the impact on the United States economy
Article Abstract:
The use of cornstarch-based biodegradable polymer resins instead of petroleum-based plastic materials was assessed in terms of its effects on the country's economy. A computable general equilibrium model was used in the analysis. Results show that all producing sectors will increase their productivity. However, the government should promote the use of biodegradable polymer resins to offset increases in net expenditures and the budget deficit.
