Earnings returns to occupational status: are Asian Americans disadvantaged?
Article Abstract:
The earnings returns to occupational states of Asian-Americans were determined. The 1990 data for the 5% Census Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) were used for information on Asian-Americans, and 1 in 1000 PUMS sample for non-Hispanic whites. The results showed that the native-born Asian-Americans do not earn significantly lest than native-born non-Hispanic white. They also received equivalent earnings returns to their occupational status. However, immigrant Asian-American earn less compared to native-born non-Hispanic whites.

Post-secondary school participation of immigrant and native youth: the role of familial resources and educational expectations
Article Abstract:
The impact of parental involvement and parental expectations on post-secondary school participation by first- and second-generation youth from varied racial and ethnic groups is studied. The results suggest that generation status differences are mediated by educational expectations for group specific models, especially among the Asian origin youth.

Beyond black and white: metropolitan residential segregation in multi-ethnic America
Article Abstract:
The question of whether greater racial and ethnic diversity in the United States is accompanied by greater integration is discussed. Results indicate that growing diversity is associated with an increase in overall segregation like segregation of European Americans, Hispanics and Asians, but a decline in segregation of African Americans.
