Economists' distortion of the contribution of science and technology to the economy
Article Abstract:
Economics' failure to provide accurate forecasts makes it unqualified to become an authority in social policy development. The field, like religion, should not be considered a science since it is influenced by ideology and often presents misleading information concerning the social contributions of research. Government research and development policies should not be restricted by perceived economic benefits but by their less-quantifiable payoffs to culture and society.

The future of heroism
Article Abstract:
The vision of recognizing, honoring and imitating heroism in society has become bleak as more people associate heroism with symbolism and occupational goals. Heroism is defined as gallantry and bravery, with heroes risking their lives for the benefit of other people. The school system is partly responsible for the misconception about heroism, as they focus on homogenization or the treatment of people into groups, neglecting the value of individual achievement.

Let's make a movie
Article Abstract:
The creators of 'Future Quest' would do well to re-conceptualize the PBS series and pay attention to the four factors which are crucial to making a futuristic program. These are the time horizon, the theme, the format and the topics per episode. As an example, themes could vary from 'drivers of change' to the 'integrated globe.' THe show formats could be 'a day in the life of ...,' a soap opera or a look at changes in society and industry.
