The size distribution of urban areas: testing for the appropriateness of the Pareto distribution using a generalized Box-Cox transformation function
Article Abstract:
A generalized Box-Cox transformation function was used to determine the accuracy of the Pareto distribution in representing urban size distribution of several countries. The Box-Cox function allows the estimation of several functional forms for testing the Pareto distribution as special cases. Results showed that the Pareto distribution was rejected in all but one country in favor of the general Box-Cox function. The Pareto distribution was found to collapse to a reciprocal function in 30% of all countries and provides less favorable results in terms of overall goodness of fit.

Urban structure with two coexisting and almost completely segregated populations: the case of East and West Jerusalem
Article Abstract:
Population density in East and West Jerusalem is examined by using census tract data to develop monocentric and duocentric density models. The site was selected due to the existence of politically and economically segregated populations with their own central business districts. The results indicated that, despite similarities in the regression estimates of both density functions, the duocentric function provided the best statistical fit.

Israeli settlement in occupied territories and its impact on housing prices in Israel
Article Abstract:
The rate of increases during from 1959 to 1967 in the occupied territories was moderated by the differing policies adopted by the rival political parties on occupied territories. The Labor party set a moderation in price appreciation of 10.4% and the Likud party in their term set a 30.2% moderation. Incentives of direct and indirect location subsidies even made OT settlement more attractive.
