Edward W. Said: overcoming orientalism
Article Abstract:
Edward W. Said's work on orientalism radically transformed the field of oriental studies by a broader moral vision of the common culture of humanity. Said's vision of intellectual and exile offers a defense of cosmopolitanism which is the worldview of scholars in a political context where globalization, cultural hybridity and multiculturalism have rewritten the traditional orientalist agenda.
