Fiscal incentives to consumer innovation: the use of unleaded petrol in Europe
Article Abstract:
An analysis of fiscal incentives to consumer innovation as a technology policy instrument particularly in the diffusion of unleaded fuel in Europe reveals that the fiscal incentives have not played a major role in the diffusion process. The study finds that trend terms were more influential in the diffusion of unleaded fuel and that these trend terms include changes in the relative performance between unleaded and leaded fuel, learning about the two types of fuels and consumer tastes relating to the two fuels.

Sectoral patterns of small firm innovation networking and proximity
Article Abstract:
Drawing upon a sample of 597 small and medium-sized manufacturing firms, investigation are done to the extent to which cooperation for innovation is associated with firm level product and process 'innovativeness' and where collaborative relationships are reported, the factors which influence their spatial distribution. The spatial reach of innovation-related linkages is also likely to be greater for firms reporting the introduction of relatively novel innovations.

Inter-and intra-firm effects in the diffusion of new process technology
Article Abstract:
The proportion of industry output produced on new technology is the result of the extent of inter-firm diffusion and the extent of intra-firm diffusion. It is indicated that intra-firm diffusion tends to lag behind inter-firm diffusion over the whole of the diffusion process and inter-firm diffusion patterns and extent may thus be poor indicators of overall diffusion.
