Love and eroticism: an introduction
Article Abstract:
Love and eroticism are cultural elaborations of sexuality, as Octavio Paz has pointed out. Eroticism appears to be more universal, however, whereas love is often regarded as a product of a specific cultural and historical context. Love is associated with courtly culture, not only in Europe, but also in Japan, China, India and the Islamic world. In European culture, love and sexuality became more closely connected during the 18th century, but many commentators believe that they are diverging again in the late 20th century.

Culture and global systems
Article Abstract:
Culture as a generic culture, is specific to human societies based on the notion of alternative ways of doing things. The process of the objectification of culture is associated with visions of a new world, a millennium of globalization that for some is the announcement of a world of diasporic hybridity, and for others, a world of increasing disorder and inequality.
