On the dimensionality of two-question format Likert attitude scales
Article Abstract:
Likert items are used in surveys and involve questions as to whether respendents strongly or otherwise agree or disagree with a statement. Another way of asking a question is to split it into two, with one question for those who support a statement, and one for those who oppose it, asking how strong their support or opposition is. Research shows that there may be different results from each method, in terms of content and the intensity of support or opposition, but that there may not be a justification for asking separate questions that take up more space on the questionnaire.

From displacement to reemployment: job acquisition in the flexible economy
Article Abstract:
The reemployment rate is not accelerated by having more than a high school education, although reemployment rates are slower for those having less than a high school education. Skill and education appear less important for economic reindustrialization than is generally perceived. People with higher educational or vocational attainments are not reemployed more quickly in the new economy, although employers generally require at least a high school education, as this demonstrates minimally acceptable work habits. Women with young children are reemployed the most slowly.

Contradictions of commitment in the new economy: Insecurity, time and technology
Article Abstract:
The strategies by which employers sustain profitability in the context of the new flexible economy both elevate the importance of employee commitment and undermine its normative basis. The changes of the new flexible economy is expected to be particularly important for decreasing older cohorts of workers' attachment to the organization since they have expected a change in the social contract.
