On the poverty of theory
Article Abstract:
E.P. Thompson's paper The Poverty of Theory that was published in 1978 is discussed with regard to the way people use theory and develop an approach to the psychodynamics of theory. It is felt that people develop forms of attachment to the methods of research they use, which are driven by anxieties that relate to them as persons and as social beings.
