Important ethical theories as variations on biblical stories of the origins of morality include the concept of morality as conformity to a rule set by a supreme power and morality as necessary to assume responsibility and make decisions. Emanuel Levinas's theories are among the most prominent examples of morality as the necessity to make choices.
