Optimal urban growth controls
Article Abstract:
An analysis of urban growth controls from the standpoint of owner-residents to make better use of their utility level is undertaken. Although the analysis has taken into consideration the model for urban growth with resident landowners that was proposed by J K Brueckner and F C Lai, it also incorporated the impact of production activity, congestion externality, and provision of public good into the models. The analysis also solved for optimum by using an analytical method that is based on a bid-rent curve.

Effects of subcenter formation on urban spatial structure
Article Abstract:
The effects of creating a subcenter within a closed, two-center city based on comparative static analysis is studied. It was found that increasing transportation cost reduces the utility level, shrinks city size and hikes rent at two centers. Increased income level automatically boosts the welfare level and city size, while land rents of both center are reduced. It was also established that a bigger population enlarges city size and reduces welfare.
