Product complexity, innovation and industrial organisation
Article Abstract:
Analysis of innovation dynamics involving the development and production high-cost, complex products and systems (CoPS) reveals that there are indeed differences between processes, organizational forms and industrial coordination of CoPS and that of mass-produced products. The study reveals that CoPS tend to be produced in smaller, highly customized batches that involve a higher degree of cooperation between companies that results in changes in organizational structures.
