Transport externalities and optimal pricing and supply decisions in urban transportation: a simulation analysis for Belgium
Article Abstract:
A model extending De Borger et al.'s (1986) studies was developed in order to address the problem of price optimization and supply considerations and the externalities involved in urban transport services. The model was applied in the public transport sector of Belgium through a detailed numerical simulation analysis. The model shows optimal prices to be significantly higher than 1989 levels for the private sector. However, public transport rates were shown to be lower than 1989 levels.

Strategic entry deterrence through spatial price discrimination
Article Abstract:
Spatial price discrimination exhibits properties as an effective barrier to entry. On the other hand, free on board (f.o.b.) prices offer better conditions to accommodate entry. The determination of a specific pricing policy changes the rules of competition following a firm's market entry. The existing firm's stature is conditioned by pricing policy, the optimal choice being f.o.b. for cases where market entry is required.

Price and quantity competition among heterogeneous suppliers with two-part pricing: applications to clubs, local public goods, networks, and growth controls
Article Abstract:
Research describing a two part pricing model as a specialized case of an oligopoly model is presented. The model allows new results to be obtained on equilibrium prices and synthesises a wide range of models.
