Wherever he may go: how wives affect their husband's career decisions
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the influence that a wife wields over her husband's career, particularly that of a military officer. Four attitudinal variables were used to model the career choice decision. Two variables evaluated satisfaction with service life, one was utilized to proxy for attachment to the labor force and the other was used to calculate the extent to which a husband allows his wife's opinion to influence his career decision. Results indicate that a wife's contributions to family income cannot be ignored despite prospects of pay adequacy.
