Alcohol cue reactivity and private self-consciousness among male alcoholics
Article Abstract:
People focus on internal processes in order to analyze and self-report an urge or negative feelings, according to research into variables linked with alcohol cue reactivity. It was found that a greater proportion of urge reactors were high in private self-consciousness (PSC) and a greater proportion of urge nonreactors were low in PSC. In contrast, salivary reactors and nonreactors were equally likely to be high or low in PSC. A person's level of PSC may have significant implications for who benefits from cue exposure treatment.

Nicotine and other substance interaction expectancies questionnaire: Relationship of expectancies to substance use
Article Abstract:
A Nicotine and Other Substance Interaction Expectancies Questionnaire (NOSIE) was developed to investigate the expectancies held by substance abusers in treatment about the effects of smoking on substance use, the effects of substance use on smoking, smoking to cope with recovery, and receptivity to smoking cessation during substance abuse treatment. The NOSIE is a 20-item measure with good psychometric properties appropriate for use with patients in substance abuse treatment.
