An exploration of the salience of Christianity for national identity in Europe
Article Abstract:
The cultural content of national identity categories in Europe are studied focusing on individual and collective factors that are associated with the salience of Christianity for national identity in seventeen European countries. Results support a group-threat and constructionist perspectives of national identity and suggest key factors at multiple units of analysis that promote a link between Christianity and national identity in Europe.
