Attributional complexity and cognitive development: a look at the motivational and cognitive requirements for attribution
Article Abstract:
The motivational and cognitive factors that affect attribution were investigated. A sample of 156 male and 160 female undergraduate students participated in an experiment designed to test the hypothesis that individual differences in attributional complexity and cognitive development will influence the degree of correction and behavioral categorization. Results showed that certain motivational and cognitive skills affect the degree of attributional error and the individual's ability to process attributional information.

Intolerance of ambiguity and depression: a cognitive vulnerability factor linked to hopelessness
Article Abstract:
Depression and cognitive-vulnerability predictions among a sample of 'normal' college students were examined. Depression was defined as a tendency to regard suffering as inevitable and it involved a hopeless outlook of the future. Results showed that individuals intolerant of ambiguity were fairly certain of future suffering or hopelessness and prone to depression since they adopt negative expectancies.
