Can the famous really postpone death?
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to reexamine David P. Phillips' evidence showing that celebrities can postpone their deaths until after the celebration of their birthdays. A reevaluation of his selected data on famous people revealed that Phillips managed to separate the deaths into 12 monthly categories without distinguishing the deaths that occurred prior to a birthday and those that occurred after a birthday. Despite this questionable aspect of his analysis, it was found that there were actually a large number of deaths due to anxiety before and excesses after birthday celebrations.

Changes in Jewish mortality and survival, 1963-1987
Article Abstract:
Mortality rate statistics and population data in Rhode Island taken in 1963 and 1987 are examined to determine the differences in the life expectancy and mortality rates of the Jewish population as opposed to the white population. Male Jews have been observed to have longer life expectancies compared to the male white population. On the other hand, life expectancies for female whites are longer compared to their Jewish counterparts.

Are Jewish deathdates affected by the timing of important religious events?
Article Abstract:
This article examines the possibility of Jews postponing their death until after important religious holidays. The authors, maintaining mortality rates among Jews decline during Jewish holidays, conclude there is not enough evidence to support the notion that Jews have the ability to postpone their death.
