Differences in delay, not ratios, control choice in concurrent chains
Article Abstract:
Two experiments on choice in concurrent-chains schedules show that choice among pigeons is controlled by terminal-link differences. Average preference remains unchanged under the absolute terminal link duration condition. Carryover of position biases may lead to variation in individual preferences. Constant-difference invariance is present in individual and mean preferences under conditions of reduced variability, and minimized position bias and order effects. Relative immediacy is unable to control terminal link differences.

Context effects on choice
Article Abstract:
Four experiments were conducted on pigeons to investigate the role of context on choice in conditioning. Results of the studies did not indicate the relevance of the contextual variables of inter-trial intervals in establishing conditioner reinforcer value in a concurrent chain. The results of all four experiments do, however, support a local contextual analysis of choice on concurrent chains schedules of reinforcement.
