Fatal liaisons and dangerous attraction: the destruction of feminist voices
Article Abstract:
'Fatal Attraction' and 'Dangerous Liaisons,' both popular films, project a concept of feminism that invites viewers' disdain for the women's movement by building the characters of independent women only to destroy them. The women portrayed in the films emphasize values that are misinterpreted as being feminist, and that only serve to provoke an audience response opposing them. Viewers identify instead with the naive and relatively inexpressive female characters of the films.

The allure of the predatory woman in 'Fatal Attraction' and other current American movies
Article Abstract:
'Fatal Attraction' and several contemporary movies depict the emasculation of females who threaten the superiority of males. The portrayal of these women as predators in a medium as powerful as film forces an acknowledgement of the fear of female power felt by a male-dominated society. Feminists have to deal with the imaging of the modern, liberated woman as an evil, male-destroying creature reminiscent of mythical sirens.
