Fluctuations in state implicit self-esteem in response to daily negative events
Article Abstract:
The changes that negative events bring about in state implicit self-esteem were evaluated. Findings of the study confirmed that exposure to positive stimuli or self-concept threats affected the individual's implicit self-esteem and that fluctuation occurred on a daily basis in people's state implicit self-evaluation depending on their experiences.

What lies beneath: Parenting style and implicit self-esteem
Article Abstract:
Three studies showed that young adult children who reported that their parents were more nurturing reported higher implicit self-esteem compared with those whose parents were less nurturing. In all these studies the findings remained reliable when self-esteem was controlled statistically for participants.

Overconfidence as dissonance reduction

A social cognitive model of overconfidence is presented, focusing on how a subject can display overconfidence in order to appear more knowledgeable and in control. Topics addressed include the relationship between accuracy and confidence, cognitive dissonance theory, and self-deception.
