Article Abstract:
This article is based on a study of the behavior of children who grow up in a rural setting within the UK. Issues discussed include 'hidden geography', childhood encounters with the countryside, and the ways in which children use their point of view to re-examine concepts of the rural idyll. Other topics include exclusion and disenfranchisement, and the concept of the 'Good Life' versus the reality of country life.
