ICMC helps resettle Afghan, Iranian and Iraqi refugees in the U.S
Article Abstract:
The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is a Geneva-based agency that handles the processing of refugees in the Pakistani refugee camps for future resettlement in the US. The refugee population in these camps managed by ICMC are composed of Afghans who have fled from the Revolution in Kabul, Iranians who ran away from the political upheavals in Iran and the Iraqis who fled from the Iran-Iraq war. These refugees go through interviews by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service to determine if they are qualified for resettlement.

Article Abstract:
Pope John Paul II addresses the social issues surrounding immigrants within the Catholic church's stand on extending aid to the oppressed. He urges governments to act against those who exploit illegal immigrants and to contribute to political stability in countries experiencing unrest. The Pope also believes in providing for immigrant's basic needs and to assist them in returning to their own country.
