Incorporating social support into a community-wide smoking-cessation contest
Article Abstract:
A simple modification in the social support intervention can increase the proportion of smoking-contest participants who select a support person to help them quit smoking. This strategy affects the smoking-cessation outcomes of this minimal contact intervention. Identifying a support person is particularly beneficial for those whose spouses either smoke or are unsupportive of quitting.
