Intrinsic and environmental vulnerabilities among executed capital offenders: revisiting the bio-psycho-social model of criminal aggression
Article Abstract:
This article examines the relationship between psychiatric illness, cognitive ability, neuropathology, substance abuse, and childhood abuse and the offenses commited by death row inmates. The authors, exploring whether or not a prototype of the 'typical' executed capital offender exists, conclude that education level, cognitive ability, and criminal history distinguished executed capital offenders from other homicide offender populations.
