"Is public sociology such a good idea?"
Article Abstract:
Michael Buawoy's description for a public sociology regulated by professional and policy sociology on one side and critical sociology on the other represents ideological biases of sociology to public, which would destroy the non-ideological efforts for sociology to make an impact on public and policy makers. Sociology would need to gain respect through a long careful research and explanation evolutionary process without ideological passion and could also do better to develop an engineering mentality in dealing with the public problems and concerns.

Working with the Labor movement: A personal journey in organic public sociology
Article Abstract:
A public sociologist discusses her own personal approach to public sociology and examines five aspects like the reasons behind following a personal approach, her research work, her efforts to teach public sociology, difficulties faced by her, and her contribution to the discipline. She finds herself working at an intersection of critical and public sociology, working to develop the social evaluation through theory and research and then transforming the research into reality.
