Article Abstract:
The extent of support for democracy in thirteen countries in Central and Eastern Europe as well as in East Germany was assessed using West Germany as the benchmark country. An analysis based on the assumption that a consolidated democracy is one that receives the support of a majority of its citizens revealed that the democratization process is not quite complete in most of the new democracies in Central and Eastern Europe.
