Post-independence opportunism and democratization in Africa
Article Abstract:
Personal ambitions and corruption at high places threatens the process of democratization in Africa. Although the post-Cold War period has paved the way for democratic rule, opportunism practiced by key government and military officials keeps the benefits from trickling down to the common people. The public position holders afraid of losing privilege and economic benefits overlook reforms in the political and economic spheres. Africa will continue to suffer from political violence, backwardness and poverty unless effective constitutional and economic reforms are accomplished.

The prospects for space tourism
Article Abstract:
Space tourism has been debated for some 40 years, and there have been some private people who have traveled in space, but progress toward space tourism has been slow using the civil space program. Small firms were set up to explore this area, but the 1986 Challenger disaster led to a drop in interest in space tourism. The idea of space tourism is being revived, and attitudes in the media are changing. Space tourism could develop if the economy retains its strength and new technology is developed for the purpose which the public can accept.
