Social work in Pakistan: preliminary insights
Article Abstract:
The article examines social work practices prevalent in Pakistan from interviews with several social work practitioners. Data revealed five themes such as the definition of social work as culturally grounded to Pakistani society, the primacy of family and community in service provision, the problems created by social and economic exclusion and many others.

Islamic theology and prayer: relevance for social work practice
Article Abstract:
The authors advise greater understanding of religion issues for social workers. Social workers who practice exclusively among Muslim clients must understand Islamic theology and prayer in order to be effective in their work. Descriptions and explanations of Islamic theology and prayer are given.

Arab and Jewish Israeli callers are compared by analyzing Israeli telephone counseling service to understand the Arab mental health and needs. The problems faced by the Arab and Jewish callers are discussed.
