Sociology of work at the crossroad
Article Abstract:
The field of sociology, particularly the sociology of work, should reflect about itself and apply the knowledge it has accumulated to itself, to free itself from being blind to its own assumptions and principles. Sociology has been guilty of being too distanced from its objects of study. The universalization of problems conceals more than it reveals about the future of the sociology of work.

The emergence, centrality, and end of work
Article Abstract:
Defining work, and tracing its origin and development, is problematic because of differing perspectives of culture, society, history, and economics. Work, in its common definition, was invented in the context of capitalism. The central function work has in capitalism is spreading to all human activities. Work can exist independently of any social relationship to organize it.
