Spatial inequality of rural industrial development in China, 1989-1994
Article Abstract:
A study of rural industrial development in China from 1989 to 1994 reveals that rural industry is a market sector in which development is driven by market forces. Topics discussed include the concentration of industrial development on the east coast, as well as and the close relationship between rural industrial development and internal and regional characteristics using a multiple regression analysis.

Reform and the process of economic restructuring in rural China: a case study of Yuhang, Zhejiang
Article Abstract:
This article explores the changes brought on by economic reform and rural development in China. The authors, focusing on the rural area of Yuhang, Zhejiang, maintain the most noticeable changes of reform was the rapid economic growth, privatization of enterprises, and the relationship between peasant and land in which peasants gained more control over the land.

Does Internet access matter for rural industry? A case study of Jiangsu, China
Article Abstract:
The digital divide in rural Jiangsu, one of the most developed areas in China is examined. While only a small portion of rural enterprises has access to the Internet, the penetration rate of the Internet in rural enterprises of China is much lower than that in urban enterprises revealed by previous studies.
