The agenda-setting function of national versus local media: a time-series analysis for the issue of same-sex marriage
Article Abstract:
The agenda-setting effects of national and local media on public opinion on the issue of same-sex marriage, in a market where an issue was both local and national with effects in a market where it was primarily national are compared. Results indicate that agenda-setting effects of local and national media are very different with local media exerting a stronger agenda-setting influence when the issue is both local and national.

Third-person perception and sexual risk taking among minority "at-risk" youth
Article Abstract:
The third-person perception phenomenon in young minorities is examined as it pertains to sexual risk taking. Researchers determined that there was only a minor relationship between third person perception, where minority youths considered themselves less influenced than others by media represented public health campaigns, and an increase in unprotected sex.

Media effects on acculturation and biculturalism: a case study of Korean immigrants in Los Angeles' Koreatown
Article Abstract:
An investigation into the effects of exposure to American and Korean mass media on the acculturation process amongst Korean immigrants is presented. Findings shows that though immigrants are exposed to both American and Korean mass media, they tend to be Americanized instead of bicultural due to the strong effects of the American media.
