Article Abstract:
Cellulosic ethanol is a widely available energy source, present in switchgrass, poplar trees, and even garbage, and yields 80% more energy than what is used to grow and convert it. The main problem is how to break down cellulose and extract ethanol at a competitive price, but scientists are working on enzymes that can break it down.
