The dimensional structure of the need for cognitive closure scale: Relationships with 'seizing' and 'freezing' process
Article Abstract:
Conflicting theoretical accounts portray need for cognitive closure and its measurement tool either as a unidimensional construct or as combining two separate dimensions that independently tap cognitive processes of freezing and seizing. A study is presented which tested structural equation models representing these two perspectives and the result supported a two-factor structure, but the two dimensions, at least as operationalized here, did not map differentially onto seizing and freezing.

Volitional shielding of the self: effects of action orientation and external demands on implicit self-evaluation.
Article Abstract:
Two studies that examined whether volitional resources can shield implicit self-evaluation against the autonomy-undermining influence of external demands are presented. The research concluded that shielding effects of action orientation occurred only for autonomy-related implicit self-evaluation, but not for implicit self-evaluations that related to conference or interpersonal relatedness.

The implicit association test's D measure can minimize a cognitive skill confound: Comment on McFarland and Crouch (2002)
Article Abstract:
McFarland and Crouch (2002) reported substantial positive correlations between the Implicit Association Test (IAT) and response speed; and between IATs assessing racism or self-esteem and ostensibly unrelated control IATs. Using an IAT measure in millisecond-difference score format, they concluded that IAT was confounded with general cognitive ability.
