The computermakers are using their expertise to provide the consumers with better, more efficient digital electronics goods, thus starting the golden age, the third age of gadgets. Streamlining of the supply chains by the computer manufacturers, commodification, and device compatibility ensures that the average gadget buyer gets cheaper stuff that works together and resists obsolescence.
