The link between student identity, attributions, and self-esteem among adult, returning students
Article Abstract:
Student identity is related to many aspects of self-esteem, but no relationship was found between self-esteem and internal attributions. This was the main finding of an investigation of the relationships between causal attributions, student identity and self-esteem among adult college students who were reenrolling after leaving school for at least three semesters. Findings also showed that there is no relationship between internal causal attributions and student identity, though 'activity-oriented' attributions were found to be related to occupational status, thus indicating a link between occupational identity and attributions.

Role identities and person identities: gender identity, mastery identity, and controlling one's partner
Article Abstract:
Individuals need to strike a balance between the demands of role identities, or identities linked to the social structure, and the demands of person identities, or identities linked to the person. Both identities wield control over one's partner in intimate relationships, but do not mutually influence each other. While role identity influences person identity, person identity does not influence role identity, except under certain circumstances. Gender identity falls under role identity, while mastery identity is viewed as a person identity.

A research note on post-dating relationships: the social embeddedness of redefining romantic couplings
Article Abstract:
An exploratory, descriptive study was conducted on post-dating relationships using interaction theory. Questions addressed involve the ways people orient themselves to each other after the dating stage and the dynamic between post-dating relationship and social networks. Results indicate that relationships between former lovers or spouses are often centered on extended social networks, shared history and friendship.
