Toward a theory of verbal behavior
Article Abstract:
Constructing an appropriate theory of verbal behavior and its relation to objects and events should start with an understanding of prelinguistic behavior. This theory cannot be built on mathematical and logical abstractions of data obtained through the study of verbally sophisticated persons. Cooperative and concerted effort as well as innovative and fresh approaches will be necessary to the successful formulation of a theory of verbal behavior.
