Towards an analysis of institutional cultures: Bulgaria, Germany and Taiwan

This article examines how to conduct a comparative analysis of institutional cultures in which the traditions and values of particular institutions are explored. The authors, focusing on Bulgaria, Germany and Taiwan, discuss problems of cultural comparisions, the process of creating a conceptual framework, and the economic-political exchanges of the cultures.

Restructuring care for the elderly in Germany
Article Abstract:
This article provides an evaluation of Germany's health insurance law regarding the long term care of the elderly. The author, maintaining Germany began to implement new laws in 1995, states that the laws have provided affordable long term care, have restructured community based care, and has created hundreds of new agencies.

Do cross-national differences in household standard of living mobility parallel cross-national differences in occupational mobility? A comparison of Germany
Article Abstract:
The reliance on individual-level occupation to operationalize social position is explained. Studies of standard of living mobility in the US, Germany and Sweden show a greater similarity between the countries than do studies of male occupational mobility.
