Truth, error, and the history of sociology
Article Abstract:
The history of sociology, a field in which the sense of the public serves the needs of democratic advancement, is a history of truth and error, sharp observations and theories about the human condition, and abusive sentiments about measuring intelligence by cranial size and facial expression. It is argued that sociology stands atop classical social theory, but in turn, sociology is itself a relatively recent demarcation point in the history of classical ethical theory, which is a lesson learned by almost every field in which empirical observation and generalization is used to advance the cause of science.
