Article Abstract:
This article presents the continuing hardships of relocated Chinese citizens compared with the wealth generated by hydropower plants built on the lands they were forced to vacate. Hardships include low standards of living, poor conditions for agriculture, lack of roads and transportation, and inadequate public health.

Article Abstract:
Alterations to China's domestic policy are examined in relation to granting resettlement requests by citizens displaced by the 1956 damming project. Topics include the growing poverty and indebtedness of the relocated citizenry as the government repeatedly reduced its compensatory amounts.
