fMRI BOLD response to alcohol stimuli in alcohol dependent young women
Article Abstract:
To examine brain response to alcohol-related words, alcohol-dependent young women and female light social drinkers were administered an alcohol cue reactivity task during functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The results indicate that alcohol dependent young women demonstrate significantly more blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) response than nonabusers during alcohol word presentation trials to relative to neutral word trials in subcallosal, anterior cingulate, left prefrontal, and bilateral insular regions.

Acute phase and five-year follow-up study of fluoxetine in adolescents with major depression and a comorbid substance use disorder: A review
Article Abstract:
The results of a twelve-week open label acute phase trial and a five-year follow-up study of fluoxetine in adolescents with major depression and a substance use disorder (SUD) are reviewed. It is observed that the long-term clinical course for the Alcohol Dependence, Cannabis Dependence and academic functioning of comorbid adolescents following acute phase treatment is generally good but the clinical course for the Major Depression of that comorbid adolescent population is poor.

Smoking cessation efforts among substance abusers with and without psychiatric comorbidity
Article Abstract:
The smoking cessation efforts amongst substance abusers with and without psychiatric comorbidity are analysed. The existence of psychiatric disorder in tandem with substance use disorder does not prompt to deter smoking cessation during early recoveries.
