A comparison of chart plotters from Brookes & Gatehouse, Furuno, Garmin, and Interphase Technologies, and data cards from C-MAP, Furuno, and Magellan is presented. One should keep in mind the hardware brand, screen visibility, display size and the electrical power consumption at the time of purchasing a plotter.

The electrical grounding system can serve any of its five roles, depending on how the boat is equipped and the main purpose of the grounding (green) conductor is to protect against shock hazards. Properly maintained and designed grounding systems have saved many lives while on a boat.
