A family affair

The Billie P. Hall, a Chesapeake Bay log canoe, celebrated its hundredth birthday in August 2003 and her current stewards, the Callahan family of Oxford, Maryland, have tried to corral as many as possible in one location. The birthday party took place at the Callahan residence overlooking Island Creek with over 150 past and present crew and well-wishers.

Marinas, yacht clubs, sailors, and boatyards are taking steps to secure their financial future while preventing further damage to waters as the EPA sets government regulations. It's called Clean Marina Initiative, a fast-growing effort that already includes 20 states and the District of Columbia.

The experience of participating in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, held in April 2005 is described. The Antigua Yacht Club sets the emphasis on sailing together rather than on racing, as well as on the enjoyment of the ideal conditions of the Caribbean Sea.
