The original game of tennis, or 'real' tennis, was played with a completely wooden racket, a felt ball and a numbered wall and floor. The Newport, Rhode Island, Casino real court was built in 1880 and is one of nine in the US.

Take the linespeople out of linecalling

Linespeople deserve a great deal of respect, but they should be replaced by electronic line-calling devices. There is no excuse for not automating the officiating activities involved in tennis.
