Anabolic androgenic steroids: A survey of 500 users
Article Abstract:
A study identifies prevalent trends in the drug-taking habits of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) users, through the use of an anonymous self-administered questionnaire posted on the message boards of Internet Web sites popular among AAS users. Results of the survey indicate that nearly four out of five AAS users are non-athletes who take the drugs for cosmetic reasons, and nearly half the respondents reported using a weekly dose in excess of 1000 mg.

Chronic administration of anabolic androgenic steroid alters murine thyroid function
Article Abstract:
The administration of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) to improve athletic performance has increased, even among the nonathletes and the Thyroid function is affected by AAS use in humans, although the mechanisms of the effects of AAS are unclear. The results reveal that doses of nandrolone decanoate exerts direct actions on the thyroid gland and in the peripheral metabolism of thyroid hormones and might lead to thyroid dysfunction.

Predictors of future anabolic androgenic steroid use
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to study the stability of anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS) use and predictors of AAS use and find out whether AAS use alters the risk of later emotional and behavioral problems. No disadvantages of AAS could be seen in the study conducted, but low statistical power limits this conclusion.
