A massive project called Escalera Nautica Mar de Cortes, Mexico intends to quadruple marine tourism by making it easier for North American boats to reach and explore this 800-mile-long cruising ground. Escalera Nautica has received priority status not just from the Federal Department of Tourism, but also from the Federal Treasury Department, the Mexican Navy, and from the State Departments of Tourism.

Several countries that offer a variety of cultures and a mixture of facilities along the passage west-bound from Florida to California are described with reference to their hotels available and village life. Some of the countries offering these facilities include Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
