The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Assn sponsored the BMW's Battle of the Legends motorcycle race. Famous motorcycle racers, all but one of whom was retired, competed in the race on stock BMW R100Rs. The race, a series of heats, was won by Jay Springsteen.
