Behind the times?
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the return of the British Open Golf Tournament to Royal Lytham and St. Annes, is discussed. The lack of bunkers at longer distances on the fairways, at link courses, is making the game too easy for professional players. The future of link courses is assessed.

Headed for a fall?
Article Abstract:
The European Tour has decreased in popularity as the Professional Golfers' Assn (PGA) Tour has become more popular. One reason for this is that the PGA Tour offers much more in prize money. The European Tour also has little television coverage and few young, talented players.

The 1998 PGA Championship tournament will be held at Seattle, Washington's Sahalee Country Club. This trying golf course will host the first major golf tournament in this part of the country in over 50 years.
