Article Abstract:
A navigator can fix a boat's position more accurately by using GPS than many nautical charts that can pinpoint navigational hazards, especially those in island groups of the South Pacific and the Caribbean where big ships do not go. The GPS, radar, and both electronic and paper charts on board can be used together to overcome their individual limitations.
